James Murphy, President

As President of MK & Company, James is charged with formulating and implementing the company's strategic planning activities and setting measurable standards of performance for each area of the business. James has a passion for high-quality construction and aims to better the industry by implementing systems for communication, teamwork, and transparency with clients, consultants, and sub-trades.
Prior to launching MK & Company in 2014, James spent over fifteen years in the industry in various project management roles. Embodying MK & Company’s “Quality is Built, Trust is Earned", James is routinely involved in guiding the project teams and ensuring clients’ high expectations are met every time.
James & his wife have 3 children, he loves to read, spend time with his family and is consistently striving to be better than he was the day before.
Bill Kerr, Managing Partner

As Managing Partner in MK & Company, Bill is responsible for implementing the daily operations of the company and fulfilling the high standards and strategies which MK & Company has a reputation for. This includes collaborating with subcontractors, engineers, architects and key team members involved in the many projects.
Bill brings with him decades of experience in mentoring and directing motivated business owners, employees and subcontractors to perform to the highest of quality and professionalism. This combined with MK & Company’s “Quality is Built, Trust is Earned” philosophy, Bill provides the inspired leadership required to deliver on that promise.
In his spare time, Bill enjoys spending time with his kids & grandkids, helping other business owners within his local community and beyond, as well as maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle.
Melanie Murphy, Business Manager

Melanie is the Business Manager at MK & Company. With 10+ years of account management for a Toronto-based marketing firm, Melanie thrives on building company culture, managing day-to-day operations and fostering relationships with clients and stakeholders. Melanie’s analytical approach and keen attention to detail have been instrumental in driving growth and enhancing the company’s reputation in the industry.
Outside of work, Melanie believes in the importance of balancing professional life with personal fulfillment. As a dedicated parent of three active children, she thrives on balancing the demands of a fast-paced career with the joys and challenges of sports-filled weekends. When Melanie is not optimizing business processes, you can find her cheering from the stands at hockey games or cheer competitions, cozy reading a great book or training for her next race.
Rob O’Neill, Site Manager

With over a decade of experience in the construction industry, Rob proudly serves as a Site Manager at MK and Company, a trusted leader in custom home building. Rob’s extensive background in project management allows him to prioritize quality and efficiency on every job, ensuring that our clients receive homes that exceed their expectations.
Outside of work, Rob cherishes spending time with his wife of 16 years and their two children. His family is his greatest joy, and he love’s watching his son compete in rep hockey and school volleyball, as well as cheering on his daughter in soccer games. As a dedicated sports fan, Rob is also an avid supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs, patiently awaiting the day they hoist Lord Stanley's Cup.
Rob is committed to building not just homes, but lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike, making every project a collaborative success.
Shawn Szusz, Site Manager

Shawn Szusz is the Site Manager at MK & Company. Shawn is responsible for total site management including controlling budgets, negotiating subcontracts, site safety and providing day-to-day communication with the project team to ensure jobs remain on schedule and within budget.
With over 20 years in the construction industry, Shawn holds an excellent track record of strong working relationships with owners, subcontractors, and designers resulting in successful construction experiences.
Outside of work, Shawn can be found poolside with his wife and two boys, fishing, travelling and carting his boys around to hockey throughout the winter months!
Andre Casais, Project Manager

Andre Casais is a Project Manager at MK & Company with 8+ years experience in the construction industry. He embodies MK’s vision “Trust is Earned” and strives to provide clients with an experience that supersedes their expectations every step of the way.
Andre has spent the better part of a decade working with clients in the GTA on commercial and residential construction projects, while also managing multiple crews in property management. Prior to that, he worked for a Fortune 500 company on the product team and managed multiple operations projects. Andre stresses the importance of communication and transparency with clients, emphasizes the importance of budget management and is detail-oriented in all aspects of the project.
On his spare time, Andre, his wife and two dogs travel Ontario in search of the best waterfalls and trails.
Brooklyn Grainger, Project Assistant

Brooklyn Grainger is a Project Assistant at MK & Company. She is eager to learn new things and always wanting to grow her construction knowledge. She grew up in Muskoka surrounded by construction and always knew that this was something that she wanted to pursue as a career.
Brooklyn enjoys being involved in some of the creative design aspects of the build and is able to visualize how the final product will come together.
Brooklyn can be found visiting with her family in Muskoka on the weekends. She always loves to spend time outside and especially loves to spend her spare time in the summer on the water kayaking and boating.
Maverick Burns, Controller

As Controller at MK & Company, Maverick oversees the financial operations that support both custom residential and commercial projects. With a focus on accuracy and transparency, he establishes and monitors financial metrics that drive the company’s performance and ensure projects remain on budget. Maverick is passionate about enhancing the construction industry through effective financial management and clear communication. By fostering strong relationships with project managers, clients, and stakeholders, he helps create an environment of trust and collaboration that allows for seamless project execution.
Before joining MK & Company, Maverick accumulated over 8 of experience in accounting, including founding and running Pharodus, an accounting firm he built from the ground up. He also held a role with Lesley A Burns Professional Corp, reinforcing his belief that financial integrity is essential to delivering high-quality outcomes and that sound fiscal planning is foundational for project success.
Maverick and his wife can be found tackling home improvement projects, woodworking, and exploring the nature with their dog, Kira. On peaceful evenings, they can be found relaxing fireside outdoors, taking in the serenity of their surroundings.
Doug Murphy, Property Manager

Doug Murphy is MK & Company’s Property Manager. Doug is highly experienced and is passionate about providing the best possible service to clients to guarantee satisfaction. His expertise and attention to detail ensure that each and every property is managed to the highest standards.
Doug is a highly-organized professional that can effectively manage multiple projects and tasks at once. He is a team player and is dedicated to providing excellent service. If you see Doug on site, he is happy to help and discuss any property needs!
Doug especially enjoys spending any available time with his grandkids and family. Attending events and just being involved. Doug looks forward to making more memories, and to create new adventures with family in his RV. Doug’s meticulously manicured lawn keeps him busy; which carries over into the pride he takes in his work.
